"And I remember being born just sound and light
And sound and light and light
And I remember the first time, skin on skin in the arms
In the arms of the night
Well how many times have we looked up into the starry skies
And how many times have we felt the passion rise"
— Heather Nova, "I'm the Girl"

One of Aphrodite's stories (as told by Lilith Maeve):

You know what made it the worst? I knew she was messing with us. I know what a pouty snarly girl she is and she could never hack not being the prettiest girl in the room. I wanted to tell her a million times over, honey, it's not being the prettiest, it's making everyone else think you're the prettiest.

Her energy would have been better spent that way. And this whole mess could have been avoided. And who gets blamed for it? Me, not her. She was the one who started it with that goddamned apple.

I know, I know. I should have left well enough alone.

I couldn't help it though. There it was, shiny and golden. A trinket like none of the others I had. And those other two...goddesses thought they deserved it! Them! Not me! You have got to be kidding me. It didn't say to the fairest brainiac or the fairest blind woman (because sweetie, let's face it. Zeus can't be staying late at the office every night for the last millennia). It said, to the fairest.

That's me.

And that acne-laden-voice-hasn't-broken-yet adolescent would have recognized the teen dream queen that I am if the other two didn't muddy the waters with blatant bribery (because they knew that was the only way they would win it), we could have just left well alone. But nooooooooooo.

You think I wanted to spend the rest of eternity with one of them lording it over me about how they were the fairest? No. I don't think so.

So I...helped. Well? I won, didn't I? History hasn't forgotten that part, either. It wasn't my fault that he was thinking with the wrong head and couldn't just let things go.
